Meet the girl in the saddle.

About Wheat Equine

I believe that every great horse starts with a strong foundation. At Wheat Equine, I’ve built my business around a simple philosophy: where soundness meets performance.

What makes my approach unique is that I work as both a farrier and a horse trainer. These two disciplines are often treated separately, but I’ve found that they work best together. When I spend time training a horse, I gain a deeper understanding of how that horse moves, carries itself, responds to different demands, and performs in its job. That insight allows me to make more informed decisions when it comes to hoof care and farriery.

Every horse is an individual. By seeing horses both in the arena and under the hoof stand, I can evaluate the complete picture—not just what their feet look like standing still, but how they function in motion. My goal is to provide hoof care that supports each horse’s comfort, longevity, and performance while developing training programs that build confidence, willingness, and athleticism.

I began my farrier career after graduating from the Practical Farrier Course at Heartland Horseshoeing School, one of the nation’s leading farrier programs. Since then, I’ve remained committed to continuing education and lifelong learning, combining modern research and best practices with the time-tested principles of good horsemanship. Whether I’m trimming, shoeing, starting colts, or developing performance horses, my focus remains the same: helping horses stay sound, capable, and prepared for the work ahead.

The name Wheat carries special meaning to me. It is my mother’s maiden name and the family name of my grandmother—two incredible women who taught me the value of curiosity, perseverance, and believing in myself. Carrying the Wheat name into my business is my way of honoring their legacy and the lessons they’ve passed down to me.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with horse owners who care deeply about their animals and are committed to helping them succeed. Whether you’re looking for reliable farrier services, colt starting, performance horse training, or a long-term partner in your horse’s development, I look forward to being part of your journey.

My Mission

My mission is to develop sound, confident, and capable horses through the integration of skilled farrier work and thoughtful training.

I believe that physical soundness and performance go hand in hand. By understanding how horses move, learn, and perform, I can make better decisions that support both their long-term health and their success under saddle.

Whether I’m helping a young horse build a solid foundation, developing a performance horse for competition, or maintaining the hoof health of a trusted partner, my goal is to create horses that are comfortable, willing, and equipped to do their jobs at the highest level.

I am committed to helping riders of all experience levels build confidence, achieve their goals, and enjoy the process along the way. Through quality horsemanship, attention to detail, and a whole-horse approach, I strive to create lasting partnerships built on trust, soundness, and performance.
